Kinda scary, isn’t it? Glad you’re feeling better.

side affects that were bothersome a small percentage, including myself include a pervasive mood of unhappiness, INSOMNIA=MAIN SIDE EFFECT, and medicinal-induced parkensons. Depakote helped me sleep too much, and Zoloft was now for insomia, however it may be different in your case, if not, or if so let me no. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – >Hey, I’m on my third week of Depakote, 100 mgs twice a day, and >my third year of Zoloft, 100 mgs once a day. might be 200 mgs. >they took me off klonipin, which was .05 mgs twice a day, and so >far so good, don’t miss it. >i’m not embarrassing myself in public with behavior/language/ >emotional type outbursts, so i guess i’m doing pretty good. >in fact, i might even feel kind of calm. i’m unsure as i’ve >never felt that before. >i had been diagnosed with severe depression, hence the klonipin and >zoloft, but recently dz changed to bp. >sigh. >explains a greatndeal about my 40 years on the planet. >be well, >kelley >Share what you know. The "bouncy" thing is a reaction to the serotonin, I think. Anyway, Zoloft has a "panic kit" to start at 12.5mg. I started there and worked up to 150m over 2-3 months because of the physical agitation. As far as I’ve experienced, SRRI’s can be used with any anti-convulsant. I have been on 40 mg of Celexa for about a year now, and Prozac for 4 or 5 years before that. The Prozac increased the intensity and duration of the sexual climax for me and this lasted for about 2 years. Then sex started to become to much work, and my desire decreased greatly, even though the intensified pleasure is still there at the end of the rainbow. I also began to realize that my AD was causing me not to care about anything. I thought that was great for a while, but I realized that the effect was becoming stronger as time went by. So 2 weeks ago we added Wellbutrin. It was not my first choice, but anything else would require my whole drug lineup to be changed. I certainly intend to give Wellbutrin a fair trial. I felt better today, but I need for someone else to think I am better. It is very hard to be objective about oneself. Thanks for the info, James. Keith

Well, the Zoloft makes me feel MUCH less aggitated then the Effexor did…I just felt so "angry..and tourtured" on Effexor. Tonight is my third night. I take 250mg of Depakote 2x a day, plus Zoloft 25mg a day, Trazedone 50mg at bedtime, and 1mg of Klonipin a day. I just started on the Trazedone again, and I hope I don’t get the weight gain.(I was on Zoloft for a year or so before…and I was one of the lucky ones to lose weight..because I usually gain them easy on a.d’s) As far as finding an a.d that won’t dampen your sex drive….just out of my own experience, I was on 50mg of Luvox, and found that it had minimal effect on my sex drive. James, I see that you live in Canada. Moclobemide works in a different way than the SSRIs, and is definitely worth talking to your doctor about. The trade name is Mannerix or Aurorix. This is a safe and <very> well tested drug, more so than the SSRIs, but our FDA seems to think the rest of the world is incompetent, so we can’t get it here. Hi James, I am taking 1500mg of depakote(epival) and 25mg of Zoloft (plus some clonazapam). I started at 100mg of Zoloft but that caused some hypomania, so I went down to 50mg then to 25mg. The basic combination of Zoloft and Depakote has been, for me, the best so far. I am sorry to hear that. This is the first bad thing I have heard about moclobemide, so I will keep that in mind. James: I take just 50mg Zoloft & 1000mg Depakote. They took me off Zoloft & I went to shit, instantly (see earlier postings) !!! I dunno yet how I’ll respond to both on the long term, but since I started up w/ the Zoloft again along w/ the Depakote, things seem pretty peachy. (Although I’m interested in Neurontin…) Good luck! I am on 100 mg Zoloft with 1000 mg Depakote for rapid/ultra rapid cycling BP-II. I am doing mostly only just OK, but will see pdoc on Wednesday and he wants to up my Zoloft to 150 mg. Good luck. Ted — email: zzyzx69 <at> usa <dot> net Share what you know. Learn what you don’t.

yes, I am taking Depakote and Zoloft. I have taken the Depakote continuously for 2 years. I have taken the Zoloft only during depressed periods. It has helped me. this latest time I only started it a few days ago. I think it is fairly common to prescribe this combination of drugs. Important to watch for any signs of mania so you can stop the Zoloft if needed. good luck and best wishes to you. — For info about this service, see http://www.twwells.com/anon/ or e-mail:

James, I’ve been taking Zoloft for five years, a VERY low dose, and have found it to be the best ad I’ve ever tried. Up until two months ago I was also on lithium but switched to depakote. I’ve had to back way off with the Zoloft as I’ve been hypomanic for days but things are feeling more stable now. Over the years I’ve learned to adjust it, with my pdocs OK. This "feels" like a good combination! caroly~vonne Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music!

Thanks for the advice Keith..unfortunatley moclobemide was probably one of the worst a.d’s I ever took. It’s probably a GOOD thing it’s not released in the U.S. From many of my fellow Canadian’s experiences, to my own, the drug just plain SUCKS(LOL!!) Really, it has a VERY short half-life (like 2.5 hours, or something like that…and can cause really nasty aggitation). The reason why I mentioned Zoloft was simply because I had an "O.K" reaction to it before(ie. it didn’t make me feel like crawling out of my skin.) So, I think I am going to go with the 25mg start of Zoloft…plus my 250mg of Depakote (Epival here in Canada) 2x a day. I am also having a really nasty weekend too though…I have a bad sore throat, head cold, plus some bad digestive problems. All of this while changing meds…..my luck..hehe… Thanks for your input Keith..:-) James MacLachlan — "These signs, this space Takes a path you didn’t choose Stay strong, keep faith There’s a change that’s coming through Hold on, my love It feels like Heaven’s coming down…" The Tea Party, "Heaven Coming Down"

hello Jamess, I take 200 mg Zoloft with 1000 mg Depakote. Ooops, wait I forgot-I take 250 mg Zoloft now, my pdoc upped it last month cuz of break through depression (again). I have taken effexor along with this also-worked pretty well except effexor gave me panic attacks. I’m planning on switching to Neurontin next month since I’ve heard it has AD effects and I just haven’t been able to get rid of depression for any length of time. take care, Amy
