"Anyone experienced SWEATS and RED FACE on Prozac"
Question:
I have experienced sweats after any activity or eating and have been red in the face and have had hot flushed and burning skin. Could this be a side effect of Prozac? Has anyone ever experienced the same? Serious replies only please — no weirdoes like SSRIHater or ProzacSlutFucker need reply.

Prozac, and all the other ADs I have used, have upset my temperature regulation for a while. Felt both hot and cold, without reason, for periods of time. It goes away, and doesn’t hurt anything. Just interesting. — Charles — someone strange lives at my house
Response:
Michael: I was always HOT on prozac. I sweated a lot and got into many arguments with the people around me regarding the temperature of the house … I never noticed my face getting red, but then again, I don’t think I looked. I experienced problems with temperature for the entire four years I was on it, but the relief I experienced from obsessions made it worth it. Take care, Lachryma

hi, yes i sweat like crazy on prozac but i don’t get the burning skin you describe. i walk around in a t-shirt in the depths of winter and make others feel cold just looking at me. the only thing i can liken it to is when i was pregnant and had my own in-built central heating system (the baby). it feels very much like that (all you women with kids out there will remember oh too well!) Response:
Yes, I remember having night sweats while on Prozac. Then I started to obsess that perhaps I had AIDs (and that’s why I was sweating.) Ida

That’s a tough side effect; is it worth it? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I take Serzone and I always feel overheated. In fact, I am wearing shorts >and a tshirt and it’s 25 degrees outside.

Oh yes, I sweated a lot when I first started taking Prozac. It took a couple of months before that side effect went away. More recently, I have been on Paxil (another SSRI) and it also makes me sweat. — Steven D. Litvintchouk Disclaimer: As far as I am aware, the opinions expressed herein are not those of my employer.

Everytime a doc tried to give me paxil it made me sweat so bad I’d quit taking it, then my pdoc tried to augment serzone with zoloft and after 3 days I woke up sick in the middle of the night, passed out in the bathroom and ended up all battered and bruised from smashing my face into the bathtub..Some people just can’t tolerate SSRI’s. I’m back to the good old tricyclic meds, they work for me. That sweating was just intolerable. D
Response:
Yes, I had the same problem. I think an increase of serotonin makes people sweat more. Not just on Prozac but the other SSRI’s as well.
Response:
Hello, I am not taking Prozac, but I have started taking Paxil, which is a related drug, and I get night sweats. The night sweats are tolerable, but I do not experience them to the same degree that you do. This is my first experience with drugs of this nature. I have been taking Paxil for a little less than a week, and the sweats at night are far better than the fatigue, and hot flashes I was experiencing. My guess is that night sweats are probably common to SSRIs. Even though i have been taking Paxil for a little less than a week, my symtoms have been drastically reduced, and it is nice to not be wound up like a cheap watch, and getting a normal amount of sleep for a change. Cheers, Mike
